Walking, Painting and the Burren
Walking, painting and the Burren
This five-day workshop immerses you in the remote limestone landscape of the Burren and in the studios at Burren College of Art. A series of walks will provide the opportunity for you to respond to this unique environment through on-site drawing and gathering visual source material. Time in the studio will provide you with the opportunity to explore and transform your experience of these Burren walks through painting. This combination of walking and studio will allow you to explore the potential of paint as a personal expression of your response to place. Practical demonstrations and presentations will introduce you to a range of technical approaches to handling paint, and participants are welcome to work in either oils or acrylics. Previous painting experience is an advantage though not essential. Absolute beginners should note that the workshop does not provide comprehensive instruction at the introductory level. Instruction is primarily through individual tutorials and discussion that will expand your approach to painting as a visual language.
