Alongside his painting practice, he has worked in a number of artist led initiatives in Limerick, most notably as co director of Faber Studios, which pioneered the use of slack spaces in Limerick City. Prout has previously undertaken residencies in Ireland, Italy, Belgium and Ethiopia, and is currently working from Cappamore Arts Studios following a 2015 bursary from Limerick Arts Office. He also writes on art and has published critical texts with the arts journal Enclave Review.
