Nicole Gibbs received her MFA from The Ohio State University in 2009, where she was a John Cavanaugh Sculpture Fellow. With degrees in painting, art history, ceramics, and sculpture, her mixed media practice combines drawing and painting, clay, fibers, and collaborative practice. She has shown nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at The Sculpture Center (Cleveland, OH), AIR-Yamanashi Gallery (Kofu, Japan), Portland Art Center (Portland, OR), and Movement Research (New York, NY). She has been a resident artist at AIR-Yamanashi and Anderson Center at Tower View in Red Wing, MN.
Gibbs is a fellow of the US-Japan Leadership Program, a network of Japanese and American leaders in government, business, academic, and nonprofit sectors. Her professional background includes teaching at Columbus College of Art & Design, The Evergreen State College, Oregon College of Art & Craft, and Ohio State, as well as curatorial work at The Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, OR. Currently living and working in Columbus, Gibbs serves as Senior Project Manager to artist Ann Hamilton.
