Joanna Hopkins

2014

Hopkins' multi media art practice has been emphasised and inspired by allowing the audience to become part of a work, intending to create a platform for viewing ourselves in a voyeuristic manner. She experiments with digital technology as an interactive platform to question how society functions. Through this process she intends to question the possibilities of subverting a viewers sense of perception and reality, and how this affects the way we see ourselves.

Hopkins has exhibited across Ireland, UK, USA, Europe and Asia. She has been awarded multiple artist residencies in both Ireland, UK and Europe, including The BCA Emerging Irish Artist Residency 2015, KREMS Austria Artist Residency 2015, Mayo County Council Tyrone Guthrie Bursary 2013, The Belfast Temporary Places 2013 Residency.  She was awarded the first VAI and Digital Art Studios Residency in 2012, and the Kilkenny Arts Office Residency in 2012. Her work is held numerous private collections and she has been commissioned by local authorities.
