Dorothy Cross is an Irish artist of national and international repute. Cross works with diverse media which includes video, installation, photography and sculpture. In her art she amalgamates found and constructed objects. She came to widespread attention with a series of works featuring cow skins and cow udders. Central to her work as a whole are themes of sexual and cultural identity, personal history, memory and the gaps between the conscious and subconscious. Her pieces are always intellectually stimulating and physically arresting.
Cross has had a legacy of solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad which also includes The Gallery at BCA.
