Conor McGrady

Conor McGrady

Dean of Academic Affairs | Head of Painting & Drawing

Conor McGrady is an artist from the north of Ireland whose work examines the relationship between ideology and the politics of spatial control. Primarily executed in black and white, his often large-scale paintings and drawings explore various manifestations of social order and raise questions relating to the control of space, personal and national boundaries.

Director of Admissions, Recruitment, Marketing and Registrar

Lisa Newman joined the Burren College of Art in 2015. She previously held positions in Financial Aid and Admissions at Oregon College of Art & Craft (2001-2009) and Pacific Northwest College of Art (1998-2000) in Portland, Oregon.
Julia Long

Julia Long

Director of Student Affairs and Group Study Abroad

Julia Long has joined the Burren College of Art team in 2012. Born in Romania, she moved to Ireland over 25 years ago – she holds an Honors degree in French Language and Literature from the West University of Timisoara and an Ordinary degree in the Psychology of Counselling from the University of Galway. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy.
Karen Quinn

Karen Quinn

Director of Finance

Karen Quinn joined Burren College of Art CLG in 2007 and oversees all areas of finance and administration for Burren College of Art including: payroll, accounts payable and receivables, cash management, general ledger, inventory, banking and reconciliations as well as preparing management accounts to work with our external auditors. Karen has worked in finance for over 25 years and has a keen interest and experience working in the arts. As well as working in BCA, Karen also works as Finance Manager at the Galway Arts Centre, Dominick Street, Galway City since 2020. Karen has a diploma in Computerised Accounts and Employment Law and recently graduated from the University of Galway with a Diploma in Business Management.
Adam Dutton

Adam Dutton

Facilities Manager/Shop Supervisor

Adam Dutton completed an MFA in Studio Art at BCA in 2020, and joined the staff in 2022. He is a sculptor from Oregon, USA where he received a B.S. in Studio Art. His work focuses on the materials of stone, wood, and pigment. By creating non-objective sculptural forms out of the Burren limestone, Adam builds a personality for the character of stone. By giving stone an identity, he invites the viewer to interact more personally with fine art through physical engagement. While using a scientific approach to reproduce natural process that occur outdoors, Adam works to make sculptures that appear natural and bewitching to handle and touch.
Tom Burke

Tom Burke

Assistant Facilities Manager

Originally from a small farm background in Kinvara, Tom has been involved in transport and construction for over 30 years. He joined the BCA team in 2024 as campus caretaker and shuttle driver, and loves working with people.
